As a leading teaching hospital, we are focused on providing the highest standards of training and education for our large and varied workforce.
The best quality, bespoke provision and facilities are essential to ensure we continue to provide excellent services and remain at the forefront of exceptional patient care.
Our diverse staff groups have a wide range of skills and training requirements. As such, we have a responsibility for providing varied and complex programmes and courses to meet their needs, some of which are highly specialist.
We are also committed to providing opportunities for career development and progression, in addition to attracting, recruiting, supporting and retaining high calibre staff.
Our offer
To ensure we meet the training needs of our wide range of staff – from entry level and apprenticeships to post graduate and doctorate level – we provide multiple training and education options and programmes focused on excellence in learning, delivered in the highest quality environment.
Facilities fit for the 21st century
We unveiled two brand new education centres in May 2023 which offer the latest technology in modern, flexible facilities which can be adapted to meet a wide range of training needs.
These new centres will provide thousands of training opportunities for Newcastle staff, who will be able to access the latest technology and replica healthcare facilities.
These include an operating theatre, wards and consultation rooms, plus flexible IT suites and an adaptable lecture theatre.
The spaces are designed for clinical and non-clinical training and have a range of equipment to provide tailored, ‘real life’ scenarios for a realistic training environment.
The investment we’ve made across the centres illustrates our commitment to the continued provision of high quality services and care; between them, the facilities will provide thousands of clinical and non-clinical learning opportunities each month.
Staff and students are able to access a full programme of training and learning across the two sites, and colleagues can access the latest technology and equipment in ‘real-life’ training spaces, including:
- replica four-bed hospital bays with nurses’ station
- high-tech simulation facilities
- outpatient consultation rooms
- replica operating theatre
- adaptable lecture space and meeting rooms
- recording studio and
- virtual teaching options.
