SUMMARY:Paediatric Palliative Care Study Day for Hospice Staff - December 2026
DESCRIPTION:This face to face course led by the regional Children’s Holistic Integrated Palliative Care Service (CHIPS) is designed to support staff working in hospices caring for children across the North East and North Cumbria. \nIntroduction\nPaediatric palliative care is about promoting the best possible quality of life and care for every child and young person with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition. \nThis specialist field has seen significant growth as the benefits of high quality palliative input is increasingly recognised such as allowing children\, young people and their families to have access to respite care and advocating their choices in terms of where they want to receive end of life care. \nThe Children’s Holistic Integrated Palliative Care Service (CHIPS) based at the Great North Children’s Hospital in Newcastle covers the entire North East and North Cumbria region. They provide expert support\, advice and guidance whilst engaging with those looking after children with life limiting and life threatening conditions. \nAs part of their role the team offer training and educational support to help build knowledge\, skills and confidence. SUMMARY:Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgical Trainee Casting Course – December 2026
DESCRIPTION:During this two day course delegates will learn the basic casting techniques and skills specifically required for CPD surgical trainees development within the NHS. \nOverview\nThis course covers the basic principles of casting techniques and skills specifically required for surgical trainees’ continuing professional development in the NHS. \nIt will explore the appropriate prescriptions relating to injury including the safe application of backslabs as well as full casts with manipulation techniques. \nDelivery of the course comprises a range of presentations and workshop learning led by specialists in their field. DESCRIPTION:The 4Ps Programme was developed by research experts in Newcastle\, designed to support healthcare professionals’ needs no matter where they are on the “research interested” to “Aspiring Clinical Academic” continuum. This welcoming jargon-free modular programme has four modules: \n\nPlace\nProject\nPerson\nPlan\n\nThey provide delegates with the skills\, knowledge and confidence to move forward with research. SUMMARY:Constraint Induced Movement Therapy for Preschool Children - February 2027
DESCRIPTION:This two-day course introduces therapists to the One-Handed Therapy Intervention (OTI) Programme – a unique toolkit for families who have a child aged 2-4 years with hemiplegia.  \nConstraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) is a highly evidence based\, complex intervention to improve hand function of children with hemiplegia. \nThere is no current comprehensive resource to give parents/carers step-by-step instructions on how to use activities to target their child’s goals through CIMT. \nThe OTI toolkit addresses this by providing therapists with: \n\nlibrary of graded\, play-based activity cards\,\nuser manuals\,\ntherapy diary\,\nattractive restraint\,\nmotivational resources\,\nfollow-up bimanual programme\,\ndigital record keeping tool.\n\nThe OTI toolkit ensures that therapists have all the pre-prepared components needed to quickly and easily compile an effective evidence based CIMT programme\, that can then be delivered by families and staff in early years settings. \nThe resources that are given to families are designed to support them to successfully implement the programme. \n\nExcellent. These toys are not provided and therefore you are required to obtain these in order to deliver the programme. \nYou will be supplied with information of what toys are needed and suggestions of where in the UK you may purchase them.
