SUMMARY:Supporting children with medical care needs in education and hospice settings - October 2026
DESCRIPTION:Supporting children where they live and learn\nJoin paediatric nurse specialists from the RVI’s Great North Children’s Hospital for a full-study day exploring the most commonly seen long term conditions affecting children and young people today.\nThe programme for the day has been designed to introduce people who teach\, care for and support children with additional needs or potentially life-threatening conditions to gain a good understanding of their aliment or illness. \nOur specialists will also provide the essential knowledge\, tools and guidance on what to do if a child in their care needs immediate clinical expertise or rapid support. \nThe day will be structured around presentations in the morning followed by practical breakout sessions in the afternoon. \nWhat to Expect:\n\nIntroduction to Type 1 Diabetes: Supporting care\, safety and wellbeing\nPaediatric Stomas: The basics and catheter care\nCaring for Children on Parenteral Nutrition: ‘The Essentials’\nComplex Airways: An introduction to paediatric tracheostomies\nPaediatric Epilepsy: Awareness and Rescue Therapy\nAsthma: Management Plans and Devices: Living with Asthma in 2026\nLong Term Ventilation: Basics and troubleshooting for LTV patients\nPaediatric Allergies: Essential knowledge and practical care guidance for allergic children\n\nWhatever your area of interest\, this is a superb opportunity to seek insight\, advice and practical guidance for specialists who support children\, young people and their families every single day\, helping to keep you informed and more confident. \n\nBooking\nTo book a place on this course go to Tickets at the bottom of the page. \nAt checkout you can make an online card payment or enter a coupon code to make alternative payment arrangements. \nAlternative payment arrangements include: \n\nrequesting an invoice (INVOICE)\n\nPlease see the Making payments & Coupons sections of the Help and FAQs. \nCancellation and refunds policy\nShould you no longer be able to attend the event on the booked date\, please contact the Academy as we may be able to offer an alternative date subject to an admin charge. \nShould you still wish to cancel your booking\, you or your employer will be charged as per the fees outlined below.  Please contact nuth.newcastlehospitalsskillsacademy@nhs.net to cancel your place. \n\n\n\nTimescale\nFee paying course\n\n\nOver 6 weeks\n£25 admin charge\n\n\n2 to 6 weeks\n50% of course fee\n\n\n0 to 2 weeks\n100% of course fee\n\n\n\nIf you do not attend on the day\, you will be charged the full cost of the event place.
