What to expect
Day 1 starts with a session reviewing anatomy and physiology of balance followed by a range of practical sessions covering the assessment and treatment of biomechanical, reactive and cognitive components.
Day 2 will cover assessment and treatment sensory systems (peripheral sensation, vision, vestibular); coordination & motor control components. The course finishes with psychology of balance and review of evidence and dosage for balance rehabilitation.
Case examples will be used throughout this course focusing on stroke, Parkinson’s Disease and older adults experiencing falls with the inclusion of vestibular and visual dysfunction.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- understand the physiological requirements for balance
- assess balance impairments, their impact, and identify the most appropriate intervention
- interpret balance outcome measures using evidence-based practice
- complete clinical reasoning templates and comprehensive, personalised treatment plans
- assess levels of challenge in balance training and adapt intensity appropriately

If you request an invoice at the point of booking, invoice payment terms are strictly 30 days from the invoice date or 7 days before the start of the course – Friday 7 August 2026 – whichever date is the earliest.

Should you no longer be able to attend the event on the booked date, please contact the Academy as we may be able to offer an alternative date subject to an admin charge.
