Child like drawing of heartbeat

This full day interactive, scenario based course will take delegates through the practical aspects of paediatric ECG interpretation and provide strategies for management and treatment options.

Attendees will learn about the best clinical pathways, and gain the essential skills and confidence needed to recognise and interpret ECG changes in the clinical setting, helping to identify a range of arrhythmias – from minor to major pathologies.

We will cover situations commonly encountered in clinical practice, such as:

  • ECG in conditions such as arrhythmias, chest pain, dizziness and fainting, and others
  • ECG and medications

with added emphasis on:

  • normal variants and common findings
  • what not to miss
  • measuring the QT and recognising T wave abnormalities

We will also explore the question “Can I trust the automatic report?” and will use worked examples throughout.

Please note: basic ECG knowledge is required.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • identify normal ECG findings in children and neonates
  • identify abnormal ECGs including arrhythmias, inherited arrhythmia syndromes, potential medication effects
  • understand the approach to syncope and chest pain in children, and when referral to a cardiologist is indicated.

Pre course learning resources will be sent out following registration.
